SkyNews web extras: Planetarium opens in Jasper dark sky preserve, AB

jasper_planetarium_aurora2

This past spring, I accepted the position in Jasper National Park and Dark Sky Preserve as full-time astronomer-in-residence, as well as manager and senior-presenter at The Jasper Planetarium.

I’ll actually be dividing my time between Ontario and Alberta now but since writing the initial article on new happenings in

IMG_1567Jasper and with the planetarium dome, I’ve been working here for several months straight (and will be doing so for several more.)

If you’re in the Rockies, drop by and take in our interactive planetarium experience, which involves a high degree of audience participation.

We also do LIVE stargazing through half a dozen instruments, including what we believe to be the largest telescope in the Rockies.

Showtimes for the planetarium each night:
9:00 pm
9:45 pm

Stargazing each night:
10:30 pm
